LM004 - Pride of Dover / Pride of Calais
Linkspan Models are aiming to release this model of the Pride of Dover / Pride of Calais in the Summer of 2018.
The Pride of Dover and Pride of Calais were built by Schichau Unterwessser AG, Bremen, Germany for Townsend-Thoresen as their answer to the Channel Tunnel threat - The Chunnel Beaters!
They were introduced into service in 1987 and served exclusively on the Dover to Calais run for nearly 25 years.
Following the events of 1987, both ships passed to the ownership of P&O European Ferries and were reliveried in the blue and white. After the introduction into service of the Spirit of Britain and the Spirit of France, both ships were finally broken up at Aliaga, Turkey in 2013 and 2014.

Linkspan Models build to 1/96th scale. When completed, the Pride of Dover / Pride of Calais kit measures:

Length: 177cm Beam: 29.5cm Draught: 6.5cm Displacement: 29.9 kg
This kit will include a glassfibre hull, laser-cut styrene superstructure parts, etched brass detail frets, resin cast and 3D printed fittings, vac formed lifeboats and funnel. Prop shafts and brass propellors, wood strip and brass wire are also included.
To accompany these will be 10 A1-sized drawings showing detailed plan and elevation views of each deck.
The kit will also come with a comprehensive set of building instructions, 3D assembly drawings, a CD of photographs of the prototype build and detailing information enabling the completion of the model in her Townsend-Thoresen or P&O livery.
